SCONES 1

The 1st Symposium on the COntrol of NEtwork Systems

Description

The 1st Symposium on the COntrol of NEtwork Systems (SCONES) was held on Monday, October 27 and Tuesday, October 28, 2014, in Boston, Massachusetts, USA.

SCONES marked the launch of the IEEE Transactions on Network Control Systems (TCNS), a new IEEE Transactions, sponsored by the IEEE Control Systems Society with technical co-sponsors the IEEE Circuits and Systems Society, the IEEE Communications Society, the IEEE Computer Society, and the IEEE Robotics and Automation Society.

SCONES was a celebration of the inaugural issue of the TCNS, published in March 2014, and offered a forward-looking view to where the field is going. All authors with papers in the inaugural issue were invited to the Symposium; each paper was given a slot for one of the authors to present the results to the audience. SCONES also featured a number of invited sessions on topics of interest to TCNS. Each Symposium day featured a poster session for accepted posters.

TCNS publishes high-quality papers on systems with interconnected components. It focuses primarily on problems related to the control of network systems but is also open to contributions concerning their design, study, engineering, optimization, and emerging behavior as these can inform and guide design and control. The scope of TCNS is described on the TCNS site and the Symposium’s scope coincides with that of TCNS.

Acknowledgments: SCONES was sponsored by the Outreach Fund of the IEEE Control Systems Society and by the Center for Information and Systems Engineering at Boston University.
