CSS Outreach Fund Mission statement The IEEE Control Systems Society (CSS) Outreach Fund provides financial resources for projects that will benefit CSS and the broader Automatic Control community. Its mission is to promote Automatic Control as a field in which talented students, engineers and researchers want to study, work and contribute to the field growth; additionally, it aims to support integration and equal opportunity in education and professional development. Overview The CSS Outreach Fund awards grants for projects designed to benefit CSS members and the broader Automatic Control community. Since its establishment in 2011, the Fund has supported more than 80 project activities on outreach, education and promotion of Automatic Control, led by international groups of CSS members. The Diversity, Outreach & Development Activities (DODA) Board is the body responsible for proposal review and approval. Project Categories and Examples Outreach activities and training: for pre-university students, teachers and specifically dedicated to developing nations Promotional materials for CSS or the field Workshops on control-related topics CSS membership drives Outreach Task Force Chair Personnel: Silvia Mastellone University of Applied Science Northwestern Switzerland Switzerland 8 (Africa, Europe, Middle East) Email Website Application Guidelines The Outreach Fund can be used in projects to support students, administrative staff, and for covering material costs, travel and services. The Fund cannot be used for salaries of working professionals in the field, including faculty and researchers in industry. The Fund cannot directly support any profit activity or scientific research. Applications can be submitted by CSS members at any point by preparing a proposal according to the guidelines provided in the following template and sending it directly to Silvia Mastellone, Outreach Task Force Chair, [email protected], or Karl H.
