Alessandro Macchelli Email Biography Alessandro Macchelli graduated with honors and obtained a PhD in Automatic and Operations Research at the DEIS, University of Bologna, in 2000 and 2003. He was a "visiting scholar" and then a Post-Doc at the University of Twente in 2001. and in 2003. In 2004, Post-Doc at DEIS and then in 2005 researcher of robotics and industrial automation in the same department. After 2005 he was visiting professor at Tongji University in Shanghai, the Institute of Automatic Control and Control Systems Technology of Johannes Kepler University Linz, the National Engineering Institute in Mechanics and Micro – Technologies (FEMTO-ST / AS2M) in Besaçon, and the Institute of Cyber-Systems & Control of Zhejiang University in Hangzhou. His research activity is focused on Hamiltonian (port-) systems, with particular emphasis on the modeling, simulation and control of distributed parameter systems, and on the applications of this formalism to robotics and mechatronics.
