Solmaz Kia Email Website Biography Solmaz S. Kia received the B.Sc. and M.Sc. degrees in aerospace engineering from the Sharif University of Technology, Tehran, Iran, in 2001 and 2004, respectively, and the Ph.D. degree in mechanical and aerospace engineering from the University of California (UC Irvine), Irvine, CA, USA, in 2009, respectively. She is currently an Associate Professor in mechanical and aerospace engineering with UC Irvine. She was a Senior Research Engineer with SySense, Inc., El Segundo, CA, USA, from 2009 to 2010. She held postdoctoral positions with the Department of Mechanical and Aerospace Engineering, University of California (UC), San Diego, CA, USA, and UC Irvine. Her main research interests, in a broad sense, include distributed optimization/coordination/estimation, nonlinear control theory, and probabilistic robotics.
