Rafael Vazquez

Biography

Rafael Vazquez received the electrical engineering and mathematics degrees from the University of Seville, Seville, Spain, in 1999 and 2003 and the M.S. and Ph.D. degrees in aerospace engineering from the University of California, San Diego, La Jolla, CA, USA in 2004 and 2006.

He is currently Professor in the Aerospace Engineering Department and Director of the Space Surveillance Chair at the University of Seville, Spain. His research interests include control theory, estimation, and optimization with applications to distributed parameter systems, spacecraft and aircraft guidance, navigation and control, and space surveillance and awareness. He is coauthor of more than 150 journal and conference publications and the book Control of Turbulent and Magnetohydrodynamic Channel Flows (Birkhauser). Prof. Vazquez also serves as Senior Editor for  IEEE Control Systems Letters (L-CSS).
