Anthony Siming Chen

Biography

Anthony Siming Chen received his B.Eng. degree in Transportation Engineering (with one-year industrial placement at CRRC) from Central South University, China, in 2015. He then moved to the U.K. and obtained his M.Sc. and Ph.D. degrees in (Advanced) Mechanical Engineering at the Dynamics and Control Group 
from the University of Bristol in 2017 and 2022, respectively. 

He is now an Assistant Professor at the Department of Electrical and Electronic Engineering, University of Nottingham, U.K.. He is a member of the Mechanical and Aerospace Systems Research Group (MAS) and an associate member of Power Electronics, Machines, and Control Research Institute (PEMC) and Aerospace Technology Institute (ATI). Since January 2022, he has been working as a Postdoctoral Research Associate with the Control Systems and Robotics Group (CSR) and the Centre for Robotics and AI, the Department of Electrical and Electronic Engineering at the University of Manchester. He held visiting positions with the University of Manchester, Georgia Institute of Technology, Institute for Advanced Automotive Propulsion Systems (IAAPS), University of Bath.

Dr. Chen won the Best Student Paper Award at the 9th IEEE International Conference on modeling, Identification, and Control in 2017 for his work on adaptive control for SI engines. His research interests include control systems, quantum control, reinforcement learning, and robotics.
