Glielmo Louis was born in Benevento in 1960. Has cum laude, from the University of Naples Federico II, the degree in Electronic Engineering in 1986 and the title of Doctor of Philosophy in 1990. From January 1990 to October 1992 he was researcher Systems Theory at the Faculty of Engineering, University of Naples Federico II. From 1992 to 2001 he was Associate Professor of Automatic Control at the University of Palermo before for a year, then at the University of Naples Federico II until 2000 and then at the University of Sannio, where he is now Professor of Automatic Control at the Faculty of engineering. Maintains a study, research collaborations and teaching a course at the University of Naples Federico II. In 1989 and 1990 he was a visiting scholar at the School of Aeronautics and Astronautics, Purdue University (USA) and, in 1990, a visiting scientist at the NET Team, Max-Planck-Institut fuer Plasmaphysik (Germany).
His research interests include the study of systems with singular perturbations, analysis and control of uncertain systems, dynamic positioning pipelay vessels, the identification of the shape of the plasma in fusion reactors of the type "tokamak", modeling and control applications "automotive '" and industrial automation.
He has published about 70 articles in journals or conference proceedings, and is editor of the book Robust Control via Variable Structure and Lyapunov Techniques (Springer-Verlag, 1996). He was a member of the scientific committees of several international conferences and has been a promoter and organizer of an international conference sponsored by the IEEE Control Systems Society.
