Biography

Shun-ichi Azuma received the B.Eng. degree in electrical engineering from Hiroshima University, Higashi Hiroshima, Japan, in 1999, and the M.Eng. degree in control engineering and Ph.D. degree in mechanical and environmental informatics from Tokyo Institute of Technology, Tokyo, Japan, in 2001 and 2004, respectively.

He is currently a Professor in the Department of Mechanical Systems Engineering, Graduate School of Engineering, Nagoya University, Nagoya, Japan. Prior to joining Nagoya University, he was a research fellow of the Japan Society for the Promotion of Science at Tokyo Institute of Technology (Advisor: Prof. Jun-ichi Imura) from 2004 to 2005, and an Assistant Professor and an Associate Professor in the Department of Systems Science, Graduate School of Informatics, Kyoto University, Uji, Japan, from 2005 to 2011 and from 2011 to 2017, respectively.

He held visiting positions at Georgia Institute of Technology, Atlanta GA, USA, from 2004 to 2005 (Advisor: Prof. Magnus Egerstedt) and at University of Pennsylvania, Philadelphia PA, USA, from 2009 to 2010 (Advisor: Prof. George J. Pappas). He serves as Associate Editors of IEEE CSS Conference Editorial Board from 2011, IEEE Transactions on Control of Network Systems from 2013, IFAC Journal Automatica from 2014, IEEE Control Systems Letters from 2016, and Nonlinear Analysis: Hybrid Systems from 2017.
