To recognize outstanding papers published in the IEEE Transactions on Automatic Control.

Award Information
Prize: 
Certificate laminated on a plaque (one for each author).
Funding: 
Funded by the IEEE Control Systems Society.
Presentation: 
Up to three (3) awards presented annually at the Awards Ceremony of the CSS.
Eligibility: 
Authors of papers published in the IEEE Transactions on Automatic Control during the two calendar years preceding the year of the award.
Basis for Judgement: 
Originality, potential impact on the theoretical foundations of control, importance and practical significance in applications, and clarity.
Award Nomination
Nomination Deadline: 
May 15 of each year.
Nomination: 

Please send nomination describing the outstanding features of the paper to the Chair of the George S. Axelby Outstanding Paper Award Committee below by May 15. Nominations must be submitted electronically and should include (1) A letter from the nominator describing the outstanding features of the paper; (2) Up to three additional supporting letters from individuals who are familiar with the paper. The names and addresses of the individuals who have been asked to provide additional supporting letters must be included in the nomination letter; (3) an electronic copy of the paper itself in the nomination package.
